YOUR PATHWAY TO STABILITY

Every family’s journey is different. NLDM provides a structured pathway combining stable housing, individualized support, education, accountability and faith-centered encouragement as parents work toward long-term family stability and independence.

Please Note: NLDM is a structured supportive housing program, not an emergency shelter or immediate housing service. Admission requires screening, eligibility determination, program participation, housing approval, and an available unit. If you need shelter or housing immediately, please call 211 for local resources.

1. CONNECT

Contact NLDM and tell us about your family’s current housing situation, needs and goals.

2. QUALIFY

Our team reviews basic eligibility and determines whether NLDM’s residential or community support services may be an appropriate fit.   Residential applicants must:

1.Be a single mother experiencing homelessness, at risk of becoming homeless, or living in unsafe, unstable, or inadequate housing.

2.Have physical custody of at least one child under age 5.  All children who would live full time at NLDM must be younger than 5 years of age at admission.

3.Meet income and eligibility requirements for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.

3. MEET

Eligible families meet with NLDM staff to learn about the program, ministry expectations, workshops, housing requirements and available support.  Eligibility is determined through an initial screening, an in-person interview, and verification of required documentation. Meeting the basic qualifications does not guarantee housing placement.

CONTINUE YOUR PATHWAY

4. PREPARE

Complete the required Section 8 application, housing approvals, program documents, and other steps needed to prepare for successful participation.

5. MOVE FORWARD

After housing approval, inspection, and apartment availability, the family signs the lease, prepares for move-in, and begins the NLDM residential program.

6. BUILD YOUR FUTURE

Work toward individualized goals for financial stability, education or employment, stronger family relationships, practical life skills, spiritual growth, and long-term independence.
